The Bengaluru-based Trishul Machine Tools Pvt Ltd - known for manufacturing polygon turning machines - has presence in many countries across the world. In this interview, C S Shiva Shankaraiah, Managing Director, Trishul Machine Tools, highlights the performance of the Indian machine tools industry and the company's future plans.

How is your company serving the manufacturing & machine tools sectors?

Trishul Machine Tools is a world renowned manufacturer of polygon turning machines. The company has worldwide presence. Trishul machines are very well accepted and most of our current dispatches are going against repeat orders. The products carry a very high reputation for reliability and productivity. Trishul Machine Tools is popular for the technical support we provide to the customers. We have support team in every major manufacturing hub of the country. Trishul machines are used by various industries like the automotive, auto ancillaries, fastener, aerospace, valves, two wheelers and brass parts.

How do you analyse the present status of the Indian machine tools industry?

Indian machine tools industry is placed very well to take on the expected growth in the Indian economy. We expect growth in every sector of the country in the years to come. The Indian machine tools industry is expected grow at a rapid pace in the next few years. Trishul is geared up for the expanding demand.

What are the USPs of your products and services?

Demand for machine tools comes only when there is a flourishing economy. The product will be bought by its past performance. Performance of the machine is the most essential ingredient of the sales strategy. The essential requirement of any machine tool to sell is its performance reliability and the technical support.

How do you intend to tap the automotive and auto component industries - the major users of machine tools?

Trishul Machine Tools being the pioneer in our class of machines, the market penetration is well achieved. The automotive being the key target sector, we have a reasonably well established presence. This sector is anticipated to experience significant growth in the coming years, and we are well-prepared to meet the increasing demand. Yes, electric vehicles (EVs) will have an effect on the growth of our company; but, this will have a limited impact. Necessary course correction activities are underway. We are confident of absorbing this disruption.

What strategies do you have to explore opportunities in other end-user industries, such as railways, defense, and electronics, etc?

Presently, we have some presence in these sectors, which will be our focus for future growth. We have constituted a separate team to address the requirements of these sectors aggressively.

How are you leveraging digitalization and automation for your business?

We have started providing the Internet of Things (IoT) features on our machines progressively. We will be providing more advancement in stages in the near future.

What strategies are you implementing to maximise your presence at the IMTEX 2025?

We are showcasing our work horse Polygon Turning Machine Model TPT-2s. This is a model for machining polygons upto A/F 95 mm and is in great demand from industries such as auto ancillaries, fasteners, valves, brass parts, and aerospace components. At IMTEX 2025, we are launching our ball generation machine, which is aimed at manufacturers of ball valve components in the valves industry. This machine will be capable of generating valve balls from 20 mm to 60 mm to a very high accuracy in sphericity. We are located in Hall No 6 and Stall C106.

What are your growth plans in the coming years?

Trishul Machine Tools expects the market for our machines to grow at 10-15 per cent every year for the next few years. We are taking necessary steps to meet the demand.
