Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) and Sanyo Special Steel Manufacturing India Private Limited (SSMI) have joined forces to establish a 28.12-megawatt green energy facility in Aachegaon, Solapur, Maharashtra. This project, slated for commissioning by March 2024, is in line with SSMI's climate change strategy, aiming to diminish reliance on fossil fuels and promote the production of eco-friendly steel.

Ashish Khanna, the CEO of TPREL, emphasised that such initiatives yield numerous benefits, including cost reduction, reduced emissions, enhanced energy security, and alignment with sustainability objectives. He also pointed out the government's focus on captive power projects, highlighting their potential for both economic and environmental advantages across industries.

Dilipkumar Pachpande, Managing Director of Sanyo Special Steel Manufacturing India, underscored the collaboration's significance in demonstrating their commitment to clean and sustainable energy solutions, which contribute to carbon neutrality goals and fortify sustainability efforts. The project is expected to annually reduce SSMI's carbon footprint by 42,534 tonnes while simultaneously meeting energy requirements and facilitating the production of green steel.
