In a strategic move to discover new opportunities and broaden their customer outreach within the country, THK India, a subsidiary of THK CO, hosted an 'Open House' ceremony at its Greenfield factory in Sri City.

This facility stands as THK's sole production unit in India, specialising in the manufacture of linear motion guides and equipment for diverse applications across various sectors. Akihiro Teramachi, CEO of THK CO, and Chairman of THK India, inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The occasion witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Yasukuni Enoki (former Japanese Ambassador), Masayuki Taga (Consul-General), Ch Rajeswara Reddy (Commissioner of Industries), Dr Ravindra Sannareddy (Founder Managing Director, Sri City), CEOs from customer companies, and senior officials from Japan, as well as State and Central government representatives.

During his address, Akihiro Teramachi briefly elucidated that the decision to establish their inaugural production unit in India was driven by customer demand, India's robust economic growth, and the government's 'Make in India' initiative. He expressed gratitude to the Andhra Pradesh State government and Sri City for their outstanding support. Teramachi highlighted that Sri City Industrial Park was selected for its exceptional infrastructure, encompassing reliable electricity and water supply, port accessibility, and the presence of other Japanese enterprises.

THK's products have played a vital role in India's Chandrayaan-3 moon project, and looking ahead, the company envisions supplying products to the electric vehicle industry, semiconductor manufacturing equipment sector, renewable energy industry, and automation equipment domain.

Addressing the gathering, Ravindra Sannareddy emphasized the significance of THK's presence in Sri City as their exclusive manufacturing facility in the country. Masayuki Taga expressed pride in attending the ceremony for the only linear motion guides manufacturing facility in India and conveyed best wishes for the company's future prospects. Rajeswara Reddy extended gratitude to THK management for selecting Andhra Pradesh as their business base and contributing to the state's economic development.

The plant, situated on a 50-acre plot in the Domestic Tariff Zone (DTZ), involved an initial investment of approximately Rs 600 crore. Specialising in the production of linear motion guides and high-quality ball screws, the facility generates direct and indirect employment opportunities for about 400 people.
