Mr B Thiagarajan, President, Airconditioning & Refrigeration Products Group, Blue Star Limited has been elected as President of the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Manufacturers' Association (RAMA), the apex forum of industry leaders and representatives of major manufacturers including MNCs in the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning industry in India.

While thanking members for giving him the responsibility to lead the Association, Mr Thiagarajan outlined initiatives, which RAMA would pursue on priority. These include:

• Working closely with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency to take the Energy Labelling Programme to next phase of implementation.
• Working closely with the Ozone Cell of the Ministry of Environment & Forests in the HCFC Refrigerant Phase-out programme in line with Montreal Protocol.
• Establishing testing standards for various Central Air-conditioning equipment in close collaboration with Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE).

Thiagarajan is also a Member of National Council of Agriculture of CII, Chairman of the CII National Task Force on Cold Chain Development and Executive Committee Member of Indian Green Building Council.
