Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd has won a Rs 731.2 million contract from Central Railway for the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of a 110 kV/25 kV AC traction substation and related infrastructure at Vasind, Maharashtra, said the company in a press release on August 5, 2025. The scope includes establishing a Sectioning and Sub-Sectioning Post (SSP) between Titwala and Khadavli, along with critical upgrades to the 132 kV transmission line using High-Temperature Low Sag (HTLS) conductors.

Indrajit Mookerjee, Vice Chairman & Executive Director, Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd, said, “This significant contract strengthens Texmaco’s role in advancing India’s rail infrastructure. By delivering railway electrification through indigenous capabilities, we are contributing to national goals in sustainability, employment generation, and infrastructure modernisation.”

The Vasind substation forms part of the capacity augmentation for the Kalyan–Asangaon 4th Line Project, a vital railway corridor in the Mumbai Division. It aims to enhance energy efficiency, operational reliability, and overall traffic management in one of India’s busiest rail sectors.

The project will be completed within 24 months, adhering to safety and quality protocols under GCC 2022 guidelines. Materials will be sourced domestically in alignment with the Government of India’s AatmaNirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.

Sudipta Mukherjee, Managing Director, Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd, added, “The Vasind substation will be pivotal for smooth operations on the Kalyan–Asangaon route. Our technical expertise, efficient delivery systems, and commitment to quality place us in a strong position to execute the project effectively.”

This project underscores Texmaco’s leadership in India’s railway electrification sector and its dedication to sustainable, future-ready transport infrastructure. It is expected to generate employment and stimulate economic activity in Maharashtra, supporting the nation’s vision for inclusive, infrastructure-led growth. As India intensifies its focus on logistics efficiency, value chain optimisation, and manufacturing self-reliance, Texmaco Rail & Engineering continues to provide engineering solutions that drive national progress.

In recent months, Texmaco Rail & Engineering has secured several major orders both in India and abroad, further consolidating its position in the rail and infrastructure sector. Domestically, it has received multiple contracts from the Ministry of Railways for the supply of various freight wagon types, including BOXNHL and BFNS models, which remain essential to India’s bulk cargo transport. Additionally, Texmaco has partnered with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) to deliver integrated infrastructure projects supporting the government’s connectivity and electrification agenda.

Internationally, Texmaco has expanded its presence in African markets, including a Rs 5.35 billion wagon supply contract to CAMALCO SA in Cameroon. These global projects reflect Texmaco’s ability to meet international engineering and safety standards, strengthening its reputation as a trusted partner across diverse rail networks.

Part of the Adventz Group, Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd is a key player in India’s railway and infrastructure industry. Operating through three segments—Freight Cars, Infra–Rail & Green Energy, and Infra–Electrical—it is headquartered in Kolkata with seven manufacturing plants in West Bengal, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh. The company specialises in rolling stock, loco components, hydro-mechanical equipment, rail infrastructure, bridges, and steel structures. Supplying Indian Railways, private clients, and export markets, and with strategic alliances with global leaders such as Wabtec and Touax, Texmaco continues to reinforce its role in the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission and enhance India’s position in the global railway manufacturing landscape.
