October 04, 2012: TE Connectivity, a world leader in connectivity systems and solutions, has announced nationwide expansion plans in India involving an investment of approximately INR 300 crore to build a new manufacturing facility in Bangalore and expand existing facilities to support the growing local market and global exports.

As part of the expansion plan, an integrated manufacturing plant will be constructed at the Aerospace Park, Yelahanka, Bangalore and operational by 2014. In addition, TE's manufacturing plants in Shirwal and Wagholi in Pune will be expanded over the next three years. The key focus of the company is to expand its operations in India by strengthening the talent pool and increasing the local product development.

Commenting on TE's expansion plan in India, Mr Joseph B Donahue, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, TE Connectivity, said, "TE is committed to growing its business in India, where long-term growth prospects are favorable. With a 20-year presence in India, TE has steadily expanded its manufacturing capacity in the market. Our most recent investment is aimed at enhancing our market leadership position and pursuing opportunities with existing and new customers."

At the new plant in Bangalore, TE will design and manufacture next-generation connectivity solutions for multiple industry verticals, including automotive, aerospace, defense, marine, enterprise networks, telecom, data communications, industrial, energy, consumer devices, appliances, circuit protection and relays. The new plant, which will measure 280,000 square feet, will create new jobs in the areas of assembly, packaging, molding, stamping, tooling machine components, copper wire, optical fibre and cable processes.

"The new manufacturing facility in Bangalore will become the design, engineering and manufacturing centre for TE in India, serving global and Indian customers," said Mr V Raja, President, TE Connectivity, India. "India is an important cornerstone of TE's emerging market growth strategy. The combination of local talent, local design and manufacturing and local partnerships will help drive TE's continued growth in the market."

The company rebranded as TE Connectivity from Tyco Electronics in March 2011 to better reflect the products and solutions it offers customers. TE Connectivity operates multiple manufacturing plants in Bangalore, Pune and Kochi.
