Leister Groups, a Switzerland-based company, officially launched its Weldy Technologies India unit in Chinnavedampatti on Thursday. This marks the inaugural assembling unit for Weldy products in India, covering an area of 7,000 square feet. Initially focusing on producing five tools for industrial applications, the company is importing components from Switzerland.

The choice of Coimbatore as the location for the plant is attributed to the district's exceptional engineering standards in both industry and academics. Christiane Leister, the president of the board of directors, expressed the company's openness to collaborating with a diverse range of engineering students, aiming to foster innovation and create employment opportunities across various service sectors.

Weldy Technologies specialises in manufacturing hot air hand tools and automatic plastic welding machines. These products find applications in the production of tents, tarpaulins, containers, boat construction, tunnel construction, and cable confection.

Christiane Leister commended India for its achievements, citing the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission as an example of the country's rapid growth in space research and digital transformation.

Martin Zingg, CEO of Leister Group, emphasised the importance of the bilateral relationship between India and Switzerland, foreseeing it as a catalyst for increased investments. The company remains committed to expanding its presence in India's dynamic market.
