Sunkind to establish 1.5 GW solar module manufacturing plant by April 2025

In a groundbreaking move to aggressively push for 'Make-in-India' to bolster domestic manufacturing, the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) has proactively facilitated Sunkind Energy—a leading EPC solar company—to establish a state-of-the-art solar module manufacturing plant, a significant stride towards making India Aatmanirbhar in green energy production.

The first meeting between RIICO and Sunkind was held on May 21, 2024, followed by land possession on August 29, 2024, after completing the bidding process and e-auction. The entire government proceeding for allocation, documentation work, and other official paraphernalia for the hassle-free handover of the land spanned a mere three months, underscoring the profound commitment of RIICO to sustainability and the country's ambitious target of solar power generation.

In response to RIICO's promptness and punctuality, Sunkind Energy quickly performed a Bhoomi Pujan ritual to commence work on setting up the solar module manufacturing plant at Matasula village in Jaipur (Rural). Within the next six months, Sunkind will complete all infrastructure-related work. The company has earmarked over Rs 1 billion for its new solar module manufacturing project, which will begin operations in April 2025.

The collaboration between RIICO and Sunkind, along with their extraordinary promptitude, is geared up to add momentum to the Rising Rajasthan Summit 2024 initiative, contributing to the goal of ‘Viksit Rajasthan’ and achieving a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.

In its value chain of solar energy production and focus on achieving ‘Net Zero’ emissions, the Sunkind project will leave an indelible imprint on the state's socio-economic landscape by developing local infrastructure and building specialized skill sets. The project will directly or indirectly open up job opportunities by generating employment for over 500 people. The social implications of this project will have a significant impact on the vision of ‘Rising Rajasthan’.

Hanish Gupta, Founder & CEO, Sunkind Energy said “We are glad that Sunkind Energy is slated to produce 1.5 GW of solar energy starting in April 2025, a significant stride towards making the country self-reliant in the green energy sector. We extend our sincere gratitude to Shivprasad Nakate, Managing Director, RIICO as well as Kulveer Singh, GM (Business Promotion) and their team for their promptness in facilitating Sunkind Energy in setting up this solar manufacturing plant. We feel indebted to them for their unwavering support, without which the project would not have seen the light of day.  Our project has significant social implications, including the development of local infrastructure and the generation of employment.”

The Matasula facility is all set to play a key role in advancing India's renewable energy agenda, aligning with India’s renewable energy goals, and contributing to the country's sustainable growth and energy security. We believe this project will bring substantial benefits to the local community and the broader renewable energy sector in India. We are excited about the potential to collaborate with the Rajasthan Government to bring this vision to reality, driving the state and the nation closer to a sustainable and carbon-neutral future.

For the past five years, Sunkind Energy has been at the forefront of the renewable energy sector, providing exceptional services in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC), as well as manufacturing robust solar structures. With the new solar module manufacturing plant, Sunkind Energy will consolidate its position as a comprehensive one-stop solution for all solar energy needs.
