Sterlite Power secures new orders worth Rs 1400 Cr

Sterlite Power, a leading power transmission developer and solutions provider, has secured multiple new orders worth Rs 1400 crore across its ‘Solutions’ business that caters to Products and specialised EPC, during the last quarter of FY 2023. These new orders, which were won across domestic and international markets, have strengthened the company’s total order book for the business unit to Rs 5200 crore for the entire FY23.

Orders for upgrade/uprate of transmission projects:

Sterlite Power’s pioneering upgrade/uprate solutions are designed to tackle the new age challenges of urban evolution, evolving demographics, and expanding renewables, faced by the Indian power ecosystem. The company has secured a major order from Powergrid to upgrade/uprate its 400 kV Jharsuguda/Sundargarh - Rourkela line, part of the larger Eastern Region Expansion Scheme – XXIX, to deploy its state-of-the-art reconductoring solution. This will significantly help in unlocking the latent potential capacity of the existing Transmission corridor by 1.5 times, while reducing the additional Right of Way.

In addition, Sterlite Power would be building 220kV double circuit transmission lines for Serentica Renewables, the renewable energy arm of the Group. The company will build the transmission corridors that will enable evacuation of renewable energy from the upcoming solar and wind parks in Rajasthan and Karnataka, to the national grid.

New orders for supplying conductors and OPGW:

In product manufacturing, the company has bagged major orders for conductors and OPGW (Optical Ground Wire) from eminent customers in the SAARC region. Orders include the prestigious Power Grid Corporation of Bangladesh’s river crossing project from Transrail as well as repeat orders from USA and LATAM region. The company also continues to strengthen its presence in the Nordic region by acquiring new orders from Nordic utilities. In addition, Sterlite Power has secured significant orders to supply conductors from notable domestic customers like Tata Power, L&T as well as international customers like Henan Pinggao. The company will be supplying for Tata Power’s NRSS XXXVI project, and L&T’s 400KV Wayanad-Kasargode transmission line.

For OPGW, orders were received from L&T for its 765 kV Navasari–Padghe transmission corridor as well as MTCIL (Maharashtra Transmission Communication Infrastructure Ltd) for its 132kV, 220kV and 400kV transmission lines. The business will also execute critical orders for cabling work in India and overseas including supply of cables for Chennai Metro Phase II, Indore, and Bhopal Metro projects.

Manish Agarwal, Director & CEO India Transmission Business, Sterlite Power, said, “With the demand of electricity growing exponentially, we foresee exciting times for the T&D industry, with an increasing scope to innovate and transform our solutions delivery. The continuous strengthening of the orderbook, across our Specialized EPC and Product manufacturing business is a testament of our commanding position in the market and reaffirms our confidence in the growth of the India and global transmission business.”
