February 2017 – Srikalahasthi Pipes Ltd is setting-up an additional coke oven battery to increase the capacity of its power plant in Chittoor district, thereby enabling it to meet its power requirement. Currently the company utilises three coke oven batteries that produce 12.5 MW of power and with the investment of Rs 65 crore coke oven battery, it can produce another 4 MW of power.
The DI pipes plant was not functional for October and November 2016 due to equipment synchronising and maintenance purposes. Thus the net profit for the end quarter December 31 remained at Rs 40 crore. During the corresponding year-ago period, the company had a net profit of Rs 41 crore; and the total income during the period under review was Rs 291.55 crore.
SPL invested Rs 100 crore for increasing the annual capacity of Ductile Iron (DI) pipes from 2.25 lakh tonnes to its current capacity of 3 lakh tonnes. With the production of nearly 25,000 tonnes of DI pipes per month, SPL is operating at its full capacity. The demand and supply position is comfortable as it already has an order booked for 10 months thus expecting an upswing in the results from the fourth quarter.
