Surgical Instruments Group Holdings (SIGH), a British medical devices manufacturing company, has unveiled its intentions to establish a production facility in Hyderabad, India, with a potential investment of Rs 231.5 crore over the next two to three years.

This strategic move is a key component of SIGH's global expansion strategy and its entry into the Indian market. The company aims to address the unmet demand for various medical devices in the country, contributing to increased affordability in the healthcare sector. During discussions with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, SIGH's Managing Director, Gouri Sridhara, and Director, Amar Chidipothu, outlined their comprehensive plans.

In the initial phase, SIGH intends to manufacture a range of medical devices, including general surgical instruments, precision instruments for microsurgeries, orthopedic power tools, dermatomes, and more. Subsequently, the company plans to broaden its product portfolio by venturing into the production of robotic medical devices in the second phase. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy assured full government support for the establishment of SIGH's manufacturing facility in Hyderabad.
