On January 10, Shakti Pumps witnessed a 5% surge in its stock as the company revealed the acquisition of its 10th patent. The latest patent, granted by the Patent Office of the Government of India under the Patents Act of 1970, marks a milestone for Shakti Pumps in the realm of fluid technology. The patented innovation focuses on a surface helical pump construction with collinear flow, addressing a persistent challenge in centrifugal pumps related to water flow in the presence of blockages in reverse osmosis membranes.

The validity of the patent extends for 20 years from the filing date, providing Shakti Pumps with an exclusive edge in the market. The groundbreaking design not only ensures a steady water flow despite membrane blockages but also enhances efficiency and reduces maintenance costs. By minimising the need for frequent membrane replacements, the design emerges as an economically attractive solution for the reverse osmosis (RO) industry.

Dinesh Patidar, the Chairman of Shakti Pumps, emphasised the significance of the innovation, stating, "Our pump's heightened efficiency not only slashes energy consumption, thereby boosting revenue streams for RO industries, but also underscores our commitment to environmental sustainability by actively reducing the carbon footprint."
