January 2014 - Sandvik Materials Technology will exhibit new products, innovations and expertise for the fluid power, power transmission and motion control industries at this year's IFPE 2014 in Las Vegas (4-8 March). Sandvik Materials Technology will be among more than 400 exhibitors at the triennial exposition and technical conference, demonstrating its newest advancements for hydraulic and hollow bar applications.

This is an opportunity to present our extensive hydraulic and instrumentation tubing, as well as optimized hollow bar materials, to over 10,000 professionals at the Las Vegas Convention Center including creators, designers and product engineers," said David Shollock, Sandvik Product Manager.

"Our hydraulic tubing is used globally in the most demanding applications for offshore, automotive manufacturing, mining, chemical processing and more. Visitors to our Stand No. 82552 can see up-close the four values behind Sandvik products: cleanliness, tolerance, hardness and chemical composition. Our steel grades have smoother surfaces and superior mechanical properties for better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion than standard ASTM 316 steels."

These products include Sandvik 3R60, the manufacturer's 'next generation' 316L grade straight length and coiled hydraulic and instrumentation tubing, which will be launched to North American customers for the first time at IFPE 2014. The material is optimized for hydraulic and instrumentation systems in which standard steel grades like AISI 316 and 316L are proving insufficient.

An austenitic chromium-nickel steel, Sandvik 3R60 offers higher strength, better weldability and improved corrosion resistance - especially against pitting and crevice corrosion. The material's increased Molybdenum content of 2.5% is crucial to its enhanced resistance against different corrosion types, such as organic and inorganic (i.e. phosphoric or sulfuric), acids at varied temperatures.

Stainless steel hollow bar by Sandvik will also be exhibited, with optimised machining properties for reduced tool wear and higher cutting speeds which contribute to increased productivity in component manufacture. Sandvik hollow bar is available in a wide range of sizes to reduce costs per component produced, while freeing up valuable machine time and cutting material waste for significant cost reductions, typically in the manufacture of valve bodies for fluid power systems.
