Reliance Infra plans EV manufacturing facility in India

Reliance Infrastructure, led by Anil Ambani, is gearing up to enter the electric vehicle (EV) and battery manufacturing sectors. The company is planning to establish an EV manufacturing facility with an initial production capacity of 250,000 units per year, with potential for expansion to 750,000 units.

The company has enlisted the expertise of former BYD executive Sanjay Gopalakrishnan to guide its EV and battery ventures. Consultants are conducting a cost feasibility study for the proposed plant, which could also include a battery manufacturing unit.

Reliance Infra is exploring the establishment of a battery plant with an initial capacity of 10 GWh, with plans to scale up to 75 GWh over the next decade. Additionally, the company is seeking partners, including potential collaborations with Chinese firms, to advance its plans. Official details from the company are pending.
