PM Modi inaugurates Boeing’s largest campus outside USA in Bengaluru, India

Prime Minister Modi advocates for building an aircraft manufacturing ecosystem in India during the inauguration of Boeing's new campus in Bengaluru, highlighting the nation's potential and government's support for the industry.
Emphasising his government’s Make-in-India and Make-for-the-World resolve, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi said there’s a need to build an aircraft manufacturing ecosystem in India tapping into the country’s large network of MSMEs, huge talent pool, and stable government.
“India’s policy approach to encourage Make-in-India is a win-win situation for every investor,” Modi said on Friday, after he inaugurated Boeing’s new global engineering and technology innovation campus in Bengaluru. The 43-acre campus, in Devanahalli, near Kempegowda international airport, is built with an outlay of Rs 16 billion. The campus is Boeing’s largest investment outside the US.
Recalling the launch of Asia’s largest helicopter manufacturing factory in Karnataka last year, Modi said Boeing’s new facility puts spotlight on Karnataka’s rise as an aviation hub.
“Bengaluru is a city which links aspirations to innovations, and India’s tech potential to global demands. Boeing’s new technology campus is going to strengthen this belief. This campus reinforces the world’s trust in India’s talent,” he added.
David L Calhoun, President and CEO, Boeing, said the company is honoured to support PM Modi’s transformative vision for India.
Modi expressed confidence that the wait will end soon for an aircraft that is fully designed and manufactured in India.
“In the last decade,” Modi announced, “India’s aviation sector made rapid strides including having 150 operational airports, up from about 70 in 2014.”
Modi said Centre is encouraging state governments to reduce taxes on aviation fuel; and working to make aircraft leasing easier. He said the International Financial Services Centres Authority was set up in Gift City, Gujarat to reduce India’s offshore dependence on aircraft leasing and financing.
