Nitin Gadkari lauds MP's Green Hydrogen Potential and Agriculture Success

Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), praised Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during his address at a public gathering in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, marking the commencement of the Jan Ashirward Yatra. He commended Chouhan's remarkable contributions to the field of agriculture, which have consistently elevated Madhya Pradesh as the leading agricultural producer in India for seven consecutive years.

Speaking to the assembled crowd, Nitin Gadkari emphasised the significant strides made by Madhya Pradesh in the energy sector, encompassing thermal, hydro, wind, and solar power generation. He pointed out the potential to establish an electrolyser facility near solar power installations to produce green hydrogen from water. He expressed his confidence that, much like its agricultural achievements, Madhya Pradesh would excel in green hydrogen production, which represents a futuristic and sustainable fuel source.

The Indian central government has already articulated its vision of positioning India as a global hub for green hydrogen production and technology. This vision is substantiated by the launch of the 'Green Hydrogen Mission' within the country. Given India's cultural reverence for farmers as the primary source of sustenance, Nitin Gadkari drew parallels, stating that farmers would transition from being "annadatas" (food providers) to becoming "urjadatas" (energy providers) through their active involvement in green hydrogen production. He emphasised that the colossal sum of Rs 16 lakh crore currently spent on importing conventional fuels would instead be channelled into the hands of farmers as they contribute significantly to the production of green fuel.

Furthermore, Gadkari credited Chief Minister Chouhan for the substantial increase in irrigation capabilities and agricultural production in the state. He asserted that what had been witnessed thus far was merely a glimpse of the larger developmental picture that was set to unfold.

Nitin Gadkari, a staunch advocate for the integration of green hydrogen into future mobility solutions, shared his personal commitment to this cause by utilising a hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai, a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle (HFCV).
