New RISE accelerator boosts circular economy collaboration between Indian, Australian startups

A newly launched accelerator program, the India Australia Rapid Innovation and Startup Expansion (RISE) Accelerator, is set to foster collaboration between startups and small to mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the circular economy sector in India and Australia. Developed in collaboration between CSIRO and Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), the flagship initiative of the Indian government promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, the program aims to facilitate the exploration of opportunities between the two nations.

Tamara Ogilvie, the program director of CSIRO's RISE Accelerator, emphasized the focus on startups and SMEs possessing mature technologies with a keen interest in expanding their operations between India and Australia. The nine-month program is designed to assist participants in navigating the initial phases of entering a new market, expediting connections with the right partners, customers, and talent, and establishing credibility for success in international markets.

Ogilvie explained, "For the inaugural round of the RISE Accelerator, we invite startups and SMEs that are actively contributing to innovative business models, technologies, and resource ingenuity, aligning with the circular economy goals of both India and Australia." Pramit Dash, the lead of AIM's RISE Accelerator, assured that participating startups from both countries would receive robust support to validate and adapt their technologies and research for overseas markets.

Notably, there is no cost for startups to engage in the RISE Accelerator program, and various opportunities for travel between Australia and India are provided to facilitate collaboration and growth.
