Mahindra Expands Advanced R&D and Testing Facilities at Chennai MRV

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd has announced the expansion of its Advanced Research and Development Centre and additional testing facilities at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai. This marks a significant step in the company’s commitment towards enhancing R&D and focusing on Make in India. The fresh investment at this facility will strengthen Mahindra’s engineering and testing capabilities in the region and reinforce Chennai’s role as a strategic hub for research and innovation.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin, along with the Minister for Industries, Investment Promotions and Commerce, T R B Rajaa, graced the ground-breaking ceremony held in Chennai today. The facility is expected to be operational within this calendar year.

Mahindra is committing an investment of approximately Rs 1,960 million for this expansion, aimed at augmenting MRV’s capabilities to support advanced vehicle design, product engineering and future technology developments. The Advanced Research & Development Centre and new testing infrastructure are expected to provide enhanced capabilities for next-generation platforms across multiple vehicle segments.

Once fully operational, the expanded facility is projected to create additional employment opportunities for around 2,000 professionals, spanning engineering, research and associated technical roles. MRV currently employs 5,000 skilled professionals at its 125-acre campus.

Speaking at the event, R Velusamy, President, Automotive Business, said, “This expansion underscores our long-term commitment to advancing product engineering capabilities in India, enhancing global competitiveness, and leveraging cutting-edge technology to deliver superior products to customers worldwide. Supported by Tamil Nadu’s robust industrial ecosystem and talent base, MRV will continue to serve as Mahindra’s global hub for innovation, excellence in engineering and future-ready mobility solutions.”
