Lanco Kondapalli Power Plant Wins 1st Prize in Energy Conservation

December 2013: Lanco Infratech Limited (LITL), one of India's largest integrated infrastructure enterprise, has announced that its unit Lanco Kondapalli Power Plant situated at Kondapalli Industrial Development Area near Vijayawada, has been awarded the prestigious National Energy Conservation Award 2013 in the award function held recently at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

The Hon'ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee presented the Award to the Director & CEO of Lanco Kondapalli Power Ltd, Shri P Panduranga Rao. Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of State for Power (Independent charge) also graced the occasion.

As appreciation for their efforts in Energy Conservation through implementation of various energy saving projects, Lanco Kondapalli Power Plant won the National level 1st Prize among Gas based Power plants in the Thermal Power Sector.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr P Panduranga Rao said, "By implementing Energy Conservation measures, Lanco Kondapalli Power Plant was not only able to achieve substantial monetary savings but was also able to leave behind a calibrated level of carbon footprints behind. This practice is not only imbibed in our business practices, but in our company's value too. In other words, our work is not just to contribute to this great country by producing power but also by embracing sustainable development ideals which result in low carbon emission."

This Award scheme instituted by the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India, has been in operation since 1991 and presented to the best energy performers in respective sectors. An inter-ministerial Energy Conservation Awards Committee under the Chairmanship of Secretary (Power) finalized the award winners for the current year among the 829 participants, based on the recommendations of a Technical Sub-Committee set up for this purpose.
