In its third edition now, the Korean Auto Parts Plaza (KAP) was inaugurated in Pune on November 19, 2013, serving as a platform for about 60 Korean companies to highlight their products and technologies in the automotive sector. Supported by Tata Motors, Fiat India and the Maratha Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture, it has been brought to India by KOTRA, the trade office of the Korean Embassy. "The exhibition opens a gateway for the Indian companies in the automotive component sector to interact with Korean counterparts and explore various business possibilities. We have here a display of the state-of-art technologies, equipment, accessories, and services from Korea," said Jang Seok-Gu, Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in India.

Elaborating about the Korean automotive component industry, Seok-Gu said, "Korean automotive parts have a reputation in the world on the basis of standard and quality. This trade initiative has been taken because Pune is one of the fastest growing markets in India for automotive parts and our companies would definitely like to build up a business relationship by way of joint ventures, technology-sharing, etc." KOTRA, according to its director, Yong Chang Kim, serves as a bridge between Korean exporters and overseas buyers. "Vested with a well-balanced industrial structure, Korea is highly competitive in a range of output from traditionally manufactured goods to high-tech products. KOTRA helps foreign buyers get quality products at the most competitive prices through business matchmaking, international exhibitions, and e-trade," he said.
