The Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IICCI), in collaboration with the Karnataka State Transport Corporation, the European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC) and CEIPIEMONTE - the Piemonte Agency for Investments, Exports and Tourism - is collaborating for the development of the first Sustainable Transport Cluster in Karnataka.

The project aims at transferring know-how, expertise and best practices of Italian and European companies and experts in the automotive and intelligent transport system sector, to local institutions and private bodies.

The Transport Cluster Development action started in March 2012 and will be developed through 2012. The project includes 3 main phases:

Phase 1 - A first Needs Tuning Mission of Italian experts to Bangalore, to assess the status and plan the delivering of know-how was conducted from the 21st to the 24th of May 2012.

Phase 2 - A 3-day transferring know-how event will be held in Bangalore at the end of July 2012, with Italian experts and stakeholder institutions and companies in Karnataka state. The event will address two main topics: how to set up a cluster; and specific sector issues related to sustainable mobility. Speakers will include a technical consultant on sustainable mobility aspects, a technical consultant on cluster development and representatives from companies.

Phase 3 - In order to complete the experience sharing, representatives of Karnataka companies and institutions involved in the project will be invited to Italy for a short study programme next September 2012. The study visits will be held in parallel with two specific events that will be held in Turin, devoted to ITS - Intelligent Transport Systems.

During the visit specific meetings will be organised for the Indian counterparts.
