Jupiter International and Odisha govt sign MoU to advance solar manufacturing

Jupiter International, a leading manufacturer of photovoltaic solar cells and provider of solar power solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Odisha to establish a Photovoltaic Solar Cell and Module Manufacturing Unit in Khordha, Odisha.

Under this agreement, Jupiter International will invest Rs 20.05 billion through its subsidiary, Jupiter Renewables. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 4.2 GW for solar cells and 3.6 GW for modules, strengthening India’s solar manufacturing ecosystem.

The MoU was signed during the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, where Jupiter International participated in discussions on advancing India’s solar manufacturing capabilities and driving the transition to clean energy. As Odisha emerges as a key industrial and investment hub, the project aligns with the state’s renewable energy ambitions and the national target of 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

“This investment marks a major milestone in our vision to build a fully integrated solar manufacturing ecosystem in India. By integrating advanced solar cell and module manufacturing, this facility will help strengthening and creating a sustainable supply chain that supports India’s clean energy transition,” said Alok Garodia, Managing Director, Jupiter International.

This initiative is part of Jupiter International’s broader expansion plan, in which the company aims to achieve 3 GW of wafer capacity, 9.4 GW of solar cell capacity, and 6 GW of module production over the next three years. The company is focused on building a fully integrated solar manufacturing ecosystem, ensuring greater control over quality, cost efficiency, and supply chain resilience. With its commitment to advanced solar solutions and cutting-edge manufacturing techniques, the company is well positioned to play a pivotal role in reducing import dependency, creating jobs, and strengthening India’s position as a global leader in renewable energy.
