India is poised to contribute over USD 500 billion annually
to the global economy from the manufacturing sector by 2030, said Pralhad
Joshi, Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and
New and Renewable Energy.
He was addressing the inauguration of the 7th edition of the
India Manufacturing Show (IMS) 2025 in Bengaluru. Calling the current decade a
transformative phase in India’s industrial journey, Joshi noted that 33 per
cent of employment and 45 per cent of exports are driven by micro, small and
medium enterprises (MSMEs).
MSMEs: Backbone of Growth
Union Minister of State for MSME and Labour and Employment,

employment provider after agriculture, offering jobs to nearly 30 crore people.
She said MSMEs contribute 30 per cent to the country’s GDP,
45 per cent to manufacturing output, and 40 per cent to exports. “MSMEs are
partners in India’s development and key to becoming a global manufacturing
hub,” she added.
Innovation and Indigenous Strength
Highlighting the spirit of innovation, V Narayanan,
Chairman, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), said Indian manufacturing
now forms the backbone of the nation’s space operations.
Samir V Kamat, Chairman, Defence Research and Development
Organisation (DRDO), noted that India has transitioned from import dependence
to domestic defence manufacturing, underscoring the strength of indigenous
production.
Showcasing Industrial Excellence
The three-day IMS 2025 marks the largest edition yet,
featuring over 450 exhibitors, including 220 MSMEs. The event showcases
innovation across sectors such as aerospace and defence, automation and
robotics, and electrical and electronics manufacturing.
The show reflects India’s growing manufacturing prowess and
aligns with the government’s Make in India vision to position the country as a
