Bangalore, March 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ - IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, USA) is a world's premier professional body. The IEEE Bengaluru Section is the local IEEE unit for Karnataka and has been rated as the best regional unit across the world for 2014 among 320 regional units.

In the recently conducted AGM attended by close to 900 members of the region, the following new office bearers for the year 2015 were elected - Mr Ravikiran Annaswamy (Chairman), Dr Debabrata Das (Vice Chairman), Mr Sudheendra Koushik (Vice Chairman), Dr Siva Reddy (Treasurer) and Mr Puneet Kumar Mishra (Secretary).

IEEE Bengaluru engages its 8000 strong member base through various technical workshops, national and international conferences, and symposiums. The members mainly are student members, research, academic and professional members and a growing number of women in the engineering profession.

The Bengaluru Section also boasts of having one of the largest numbers of technical societies under the section along with a large number of life members (> 60 years), senior members (accomplished professionals) and fellows (highest grade) of IEEE.

The Section basically operates with the members acting as volunteers and covers the region of Karnataka with sub-sections in Mangalore and few more on the anvil.

The Section also partners with various professional bodies and organisations, such as Visvesvaraya Technical Museum, Project Management Institute (PMI, USA), Institute of Engineers, IETE, and many more.

For 2015, the team is focused on creating an innovation lab for young professionals to get creative and try new ideas. IEEE CONECCT - international conference is planned in July 2015 and IEEE Smart Tech Workshop aimed at technologists in the industry is planned for September 2015.
