The Government of Haryana has announced the establishment of a Quality Assurance Authority (QAA), a pioneering initiative aimed at ensuring uncompromised quality in engineering projects undertaken by the state government and state-owned or controlled organisations. In its mission to enhance the state's infrastructure and elevate construction standards, the government of Haryana has partnered with the Quality Council of India (QCI), the apex organisation in India responsible for establishing and operating the third-party national accreditation system, improving quality across sectors and advising the government and other stakeholders on all matters concerning quality. QCI will play a pivotal role in assisting and guiding the QAA in achieving its objectives. Rajeev Arora, IAS (Retd), Chairperson of QAA met with the Secretary-General of QCI, Dr RP Singh to discuss on the same.

 

The QAA will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of engineering projects with a sharp focus on maintaining superior quality, adherence to best practices, and timely execution. The establishment of the QAA reflects the government's commitment to creating world-class infrastructure that aligns with international standards.

To ensure the seamless functioning and effectiveness of the QAA, the Government of Haryana has sought the expertise of the Quality Council of India (QCI) will assist the Government of Haryana in creating a robust Project Management Unit to streamline project execution, enhance project monitoring, and optimize resource allocation. The PMU will serve as the nucleus of the QAA's operational efficiency. QCI will also aid in preparation of comprehensive and meticulous Detailed Project Reports, providing a comprehensive roadmap for every engineering project, serving as the foundation for successful project execution and accountability.

Recognizing the importance of skilled personnel in delivering high-quality projects, QCI will carry out capacity building programs for QAA officials and personnel, empowering the workforce with the latest knowledge and skills. QCI will also play a significant role in shaping the architecture and structure of the QAA, involving all relevant stakeholders in the domain of infrastructure.

The Government of Haryana is confident that the collaboration with the Quality Council of India (QCI) will significantly enhance the QAA's capabilities and pave the way for landmark engineering projects that will stand as a testament to Haryana's commitment to progress and development.
