Hafele Strengthens India Presence with Local Manufacturing Facility Launch

Hafele has inaugurated a local production facility in Maharashtra, India, marking a key milestone in its localisation strategy and reinforcing its commitment to the "Make in India" initiative. This move strengthens Hafele’s global manufacturing network and supports India’s evolving manufacturing ecosystem, creating local value while preparing for scalable operations.

The India production facility builds on Hafele’s existing network across Europe, expanding its presence in one of its most important growth markets. In its first phase, the facility begins production of the MatrixBox Premium+ drawer systems, engineered for smooth, soft-close, and noiseless performance, ideal for modern kitchens. The system supports heavy-duty use and offers extensive design flexibility with various premium finishes and customisable add-ons. This is just the start, with more products and categories set to follow in line with market demand and long-term localisation plans.

The setup enables early-stage local manufacturing while Hafele progresses with its larger-scale manufacturing hub to support future growth. The new facility is part of Hafele’s wider localisation roadmap, supporting process validation, workforce training, and supply-chain stabilisation to ensure agile, efficient operations aligned with market demands.

As part of enhancing its local manufacturing capabilities, Hafele has also expanded its Service+Customised offerings in India. The company now manufactures bespoke aluminium profiled cabinet fronts at its Mumbai facility, ensuring consistent quality and efficient installation for kitchens, wardrobes, and furniture applications. This in-house production enhances lead times, design flexibility, and value for channel partners, driving forward Hafele's long-term localisation strategy.

Michael Distl, CFO of Hafele Group, stated “Strengthening our global production network requires strategic investments in key growth markets like India. This initiative enables early process validation, enhances financial efficiency, and builds organisational readiness, while ensuring that governance, quality, and compliance standards remain fully aligned with Hafele’s global benchmarks.”

Boris Katic, COO of Hafele Group, added “Building strong manufacturing capabilities begins with people, finding the right processes and supply chains. This initiative is part of our broader vision to decentralise global supply chains by creating strategic sourcing and production hubs in key regions, thereby strengthening our position as a manufacturing-driven organisation and extending our production footprint closer to the markets we serve. In this context, India is poised to play a pivotal role, not only serving domestic demand, but also evolving into a hub that supports global markets in the years ahead.”

Frank Schloeder, Managing Director of Hafele South Asia, commented “This marks a decisive step forward in our ‘Make in India’ strategy. It enables us to build manufacturing capabilities locally, nurture talent, and respond faster to the needs of the Indian market. India continues to be a strategic growth market for Hafele, and this milestone reinforces our long-term commitment to local value addition and operational excellence.”

This move aligns with Hafele’s objective of reducing import reliance, enhancing supply-chain resilience, and fostering scalable, sustainable manufacturing operations in India and South Asia.
