Haas Automation has announced that the first HaasTec Open House in India, held October 11 to 13, 2011, at the Chennai Trade Centre, was an outstanding success, attracting visitors from all over the Tamil Nadu region, and beyond.

  "This was a unique event," said Mr Terrence Miranda, Managing Director of Haas Automation India. "There was a range of the latest Haas CNC machine tools on display - including the ST-20Y high-performance Y-axis CNC turning centre and DT-1 high-speed Drill/Tap Centre - and I'm happy to say we welcomed more than 750 visitors over the three days, and received orders for at least 20 Haas machines."

HaasTec India 2011 was opened by Mr Mahadevan, Executive Director of Brakes India Ltd, part of the TVS group, which has 100+ Haas machines at its various plants in the Chennai area. Leading industry vendors supported the event, including well-known companies such as Delcam, Iscar, Cimatron, and Blaser. Renishaw Area Sales Manager C R Arun Raja praised HaasTec, saying: "We're very proud indeed to attend this open house, and we're pleased Haas chose to hold it here in Chennai, which is an important area for precision engineering."

Haas Automation has a large customer-base in the area. "In particular," said Mr Miranda, "we have many customers from the auto, aerospace, and general engineering sectors, many of whom came along to speak directly to engineers from the Haas factory."

HaasTec India was modelled on the hugely successful HaasTec Open House that took place at the company's factory and global headquarters in Oxnard, California, in March of this year.

"The HaasTec format is proving itself as an effective means of reaching and communicating locally with customers," concluded Mr Miranda. "I'm confident that this will be the first of many in India."
