The Process Equipment business of Godrej Enterprises Group has announced an investment of Rs 2 billion to expand its manufacturing facility in Dahej, Gujarat. The new investment follows a previous Rs 3 billion infusion, further demonstrating the company’s commitment to strengthening domestic manufacturing and advancing India’s clean energy goals. This expansion aims to strengthen India's position as a global hub for process equipment manufacturing and aligns with the government's Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. It also supports the vision outlined in the National Green Hydrogen Mission & the Union Budget, which prioritises clean energy transition with a Rs 370 billion allocation for related projects.

 

The Phase-III expansion of the Dahej facility will increase annual manufacturing capacity to approximately 30,000 MT with an increase in the production space including development of new Dust-free Enclosure for manufacturing exotic materials, dedicated bays for Internals manufacturing, and development of extended manufacturing yards. This expansion aims at developing capability and capacity in manufacturing high-end and critical process equipment including for sectors like hydrogen, nuclear, and geothermal energy along with conventional energy projects like refinery and petrochemicals.

The expanded facility will feature an additional Extended Fabrication Yard dedicated to manufacturing large and complex process equipment, including equipment up to 16 meters in diameter and 140 meters in length, with enhanced capabilities for process modules. A strategically placed 30m x 10m Advanced Heat Treatment Furnace will ensure reduction in carbon emissions during operation. Reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, the facility holds a Zero Waste to Landfill certification, emphasising environmentally responsible manufacturing practices. Additionally, with more than 80% automation, the facility integrates Industry 4.0 technologies, including IoT-based machining processes and predictive maintenance systems, enhancing precision, efficiency, and operational reliability.

 

The manufacturing unit also features a unique sea-going jetty, enabling direct loading and transportation of over-dimensional equipment to international markets. Currently, 70% of its production is exported to over 40 countries across six continents, with a strong focus on the Americas and the Middle East.

 

This expansion also aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and net-zero targets, supporting the country’s ambition to become a leader in clean energy technology and industrial manufacturing thus bolstering the nation’s ability to deliver cutting-edge engineering solutions while meeting the evolving needs of the clean energy sector.

 

With a rising global demand for nuclear, hydrogen, and geothermal energy solutions, the facility will play a critical role in supplying high-quality, large-scale process equipment to industries worldwide. It also reinforces the company’s role in contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat, fostering high-value industrial manufacturing and job creation.
