GE Aerospace Invests Rs 1 Bn to Boost Pune Manufacturing Hub

GE Aerospace today announced an investment of Rs 1 billion in its Pune manufacturing facility, reinforcing its manufacturing footprint in India and long-term commitment to the country. The investment will support new welding technologies, advanced inspection equipment, precision tools, gauges, fixtures, and infrastructure enhancements designed to increase production capacity, enhance process precision, and support high-quality component delivery for customers worldwide.

This builds on Rs 4.1 billion invested over the last two years, bringing total investment in the Pune facility to over Rs 5.1 billion across three years. Previous investments focused on advancing manufacturing processes, automation, and capability enhancements for next-generation engine components. The latest upgrades will further expand the facility’s capabilities, supporting component production for GE Aerospace’s GE90, GEnx, GE9X, and CFM International’s LEAP engine programmes.

“This continued investment reflects GE Aerospace’s long-term commitment to India and our confidence in the Pune facility’s role within our global manufacturing network,” said Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director, Pune manufacturing facility, GE Aerospace. “Our growth benefits customers and the broader community, generating more apprenticeship and job opportunities at GE Aerospace and for our supplier partners. Over the past decade, this facility has evolved into a high-capability aerospace hub, strengthening India’s supplier ecosystem and contributing to GE Aerospace's global supply chain.”

The Pune facility is integral to GE Aerospace’s global supply chain, producing critical commercial aircraft engine components. It collaborates with over 300 local suppliers within a broader network of more than 2,200 GE Aerospace suppliers in India, enhancing the country’s role in global aerospace programmes through advanced manufacturing and precision engineering.

The site also contributes to workforce development through its structured two-year apprenticeship programme, enrolling more than 500 apprentices annually for classroom instruction and specialised TIG welding training at the facility’s Weld School. Since 2015, over 5,000 production associates have been trained, establishing a strong aerospace manufacturing talent pipeline. Recent grants have also supported technical education and skill development initiatives in the region.

This announcement further reinforces GE Aerospace’s broader commitment to India, with continued investments in manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain development to shape the future of flight.

CFM International is a 50-50 joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines.
