Udaipur-based Friends Engineering Works was honoured with the prestigious Century International Quality ERA Award in the Gold category at the recently concluded awards ceremony at the B.I.D International Quality Convention - Geneva 2012. The company was recognised for its commitment to Quality, Leadership, Technology and Innovation, at the awards ceremony, which honoured 40 companies from around the world for achievements in quality and excellence.

Speaking about the award, Mr Trilok Singh, Managing Director, Friends Engineering Works Pvt Ltd, stated that the organisation has been committed to quality in terms of delivery, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, premises maintenance and systems, from the very beginning. The concern over quality has not happened over the years, but has been an intrinsic part of the company's growth philosophy.

He said that the firm, which is now a leading company in manufacture of state-of-the-art machinery used in marble quarrying, processing and finishing, started its operations with a modest work shop that was founded, run and managed by his father, Fauja Singh.

FRIENDS in the title of the company is actually an acronym that stands for Finesse, Rational, Impeccable, Efficacious, Novel, Devoted and Sturdy. The company was invited by B.I.D as a selected enterprise, the award criteria based on feedback received by manufacturing equipment users worldwide. There was no nomination submission or poll, but it was entirely internal assessment by the awarding body.

According to Jose E. Prieto, the CEO of B.I.D (Business Initiative Directions), "the awarded companies are symbols of commitment to leadership, technology and innovation, making them models for others in their sectors." B.I.D praised Friends Engineering Works for representing success for India in the business world.
