Hon Hai Technology Group has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a Mandarin-language education project with four tertiary institutions in India. The aim is to strengthen the ties between industry and academia, fostering the development of future talent.

The MOU involves collaborations with Shiv Nadar University, VEL TECH, Assam Don Bosco University, and Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, facilitated with the support of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC). In the initial phase, Foxconn is investing 3 million rupees (approximately NT$1.2 million) to promote local Mandarin-language education through a three-way partnership between industry, government, and academia. The project is anticipated to expand, incorporating more institutions in the future.

Within the project framework, Foxconn will provide subsidies for Taiwanese teachers during their teaching assignments in India at the aforementioned four schools. Initially, close to a hundred students from Indian colleges and universities will participate in Mandarin-language education courses. Qualified individuals who complete these courses will receive priority consideration for employment opportunities within the Group.

Foxconn's commitment to sponsoring Indian universities with Taiwan education centers is geared towards uniting industry, government, and academia to enhance Mandarin-language teaching resources in India. This initiative not only aids local students in acquiring advanced language skills but also addresses the talent requirements essential for the Group's strategic development in India.

TECC Representative Baushuan Ger, present during the MOU signing, highlighted the current existence of 31 Taiwanese education centers in India. Through Foxconn's sponsorship, additional Taiwanese teachers are expected to assume teaching roles in India, offering increased employment prospects for high-achieving Indian students. As more Taiwanese companies establish operations in India, the Mandarin-language education project aims to bridge the gap in the availability of local talent with Mandarin-language proficiency.

The partner schools have expressed enthusiastic support for the collaboration, emphasising that it will propel students and faculty at tertiary institutions to advance their Mandarin-language education achievements. This, in turn, will enhance their communication skills, preparing them for success in meeting global challenges in the future.
