Embraer SA explores partnership with Indian firms for Defence Transport Aircraft Manufacturing

Aerospace firm Embraer SA has been reported to engage in discussions with five Indian firms, including Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) and Tata Group, regarding the possibility of manufacturing defence transport aircraft in India. It is expected that the firm will finalise and announce its partner by the end of the current year.

The company is closely observing the activities of major players in India and gining insights from their actions. They are currently in talks with four or five companies to explore the Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) program, with these companies representing both the government and private sectors.

The firm anticipates announcing its chosen partner by December. He further mentioned that the potential partnership could extend to the production of commercial aircraft.

The representatives from the company are presently visiting the facilities of these firms to assess the best match that can contribute value under the 'make-in-India' initiative. The company's willingness to enter into any agreement that aids its growth in the Indian market.
