The 15th edition of ELECRAMA, the largest stand-alone showcase of the Indian electrical and allied electronics industry by Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA), will be hosted from February 18-22, 2023, at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. IEEMA and its members will work together with the Government of India to achieve a 100-year partnership of electrifying, digitalizing, and greening India. With around 1500 exhibitors, five concurrent conferences and 350,000 visitors from 70 countries, the event is expected to generate billions of dollars of revenue for Indian electrical manufacturing industry in the following years.
Hamza Ariswala, President of IEEMA, said, “Through ELECRAMA, we aim to showcase India’s strength to engage more deeply with the rest of the world. We will be focusing on connecting the equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers to the key decision makers and end customers like utilities, EPCs, and private power producers and adding our MSME units to global value chains."
ELECRAMA has emerged as a platform for knowledge-sharing with a strong focus on electric vehicles, Internet of Things (IoT), storage solutions and renewable energy. The event is supported by the Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India.
Leading on the green path
With the theme of “ReImagine energy: For sustainable future”, ELECRAMA 2023 will be showcasing innovation and future technologies in many areas including storage, green hydrogen, fuel cells, AI, and IoT. This edition will also focus on sustainability through energy conservation, carbon net zero, and smart consumption. “The energy transition currently underway is propelling electricity as a dominant form of energy so much so that very shortly energy will be synonymous with electricity. There is a huge business potential riding on the increasing relevance of EVs, Charging Infra, RE and Green Hydrogen, and Energy Storage. The transition of the transportation sector from the fossil fuel-driven sector to the clean energy-driven sector would be a key to the energy goals of the country. The upcoming 15th edition of ELECRAMA 2023 will mainly focus on such opportunities and position India as the fulcrum of futuristic technologies and solutions required for achieving sustainable growth," said Vinamra Agarwal, Chairman, IEEMA Northern Region, during a Chandigarh road show for ELECRAMA.
Schneider Electric: The official Sustainability partner
Schneider Electric is the official Sustainability Partner for ELECRAMA 2023. The company will continue to work with IEEMA to make ELECRAMA a carbon-neutral event by facilitating a carbon footprint measurement process, along with devising and implementing a carbon reduction and offset strategy for the event. Schneider Electric will also devise various interesting installations and creatives at the event to bring focus on sustainability in an all-electric world.
Anil Chaudhry, Zone President, India, and CEO & MD Schneider Electric India Pvt Ltd, said, “Sustainability is at the heart of Schneider Electric. We empower our customers and partners to bridge progress and sustainability, contributing to the nation’s commitment towards net-zero by 2070. As the largest congregation of electrical and allied industries, Elecrama is a great platform to create awareness about sustainability, energy efficiency and digitization. We are proud to be the Sustainability Partner for Elecrama 2023. We believe that this collaborative journey will spark climate-positive conversations across industry stakeholders. As part of this association, we are looking forward towards launching a report on the ‘Decarbonization path for India during Amrit Kaal’ focusing on the development of India Energy Services & bold steps required to accelerate the path towards sustainability."
ELECRAMA 2023 will have co-located events, such as World Utility Summit (WUS), which will be attended by CXOs of companies, utility bodies, regulators, etc. GIZ, Germany, is the supporting partner at WUS. World Utility Summit was conceptualised to provide a wider forum for utilities to deliberate together on changes that will come, probable ideas and solutions to deal with continuous changes. WUS will have the theme of "Sustainable Transformation of Utilities". The electricity ecosystem is undergoing an unprecedented transformation with the proliferation of renewables, distributed generation of resources and electric vehicles on one side and consumer activism and regulatory pressures on other. These developments can help utilities to embrace the complexities of the network and to prepare to drive decisions based on probabilities and real-time data.
Etech-Nxt will be another event that will showcase the impact of new technologies on the power sector. Change-Xchange or reverse buyer-seller meet, is yet another event featuring participation from over 650 buyers from 65 countries. BuildELEC will showcase safe electricity in smart buildings. It focuses on the H3O (homes, hospitals, hotels, and offices) segment, and showcases energy efficiency, fire safety, building automation, IoT and smart security solutions, for industrial, commercial and residential buildings.
ELECRAMA 2023 will also have a technology hub where fuel cells, nitrogen, AI storage, etc, will be displayed. There will be pavilions on process automation and control, EV ecosystem and components, etc.
Road shows in multiple cities
As a run up to the 15th Edition of ELECRAMA, IEEMA hosted road shows in multiple cities (like Nashik, Jaipur, Hyderabad, etc) to promote the expo - a key event of the domestic power sector.
Speaking at a road show in Nashik (Maharashtra) in January 2023, Sunil Singhvi, Vice President, IEEMA, said, "With initiatives like 'Make in Maharashtra' for boosting industrial output, large investments have been planned for improving the power infrastructure of the state. Clean energy and electricity will be at the core of this transition. We expect about $2 trillion investment in the sector over the next 25 years, with the share of our sector doubling as a percentage of India's GDP and a 10X growth in exports by the sector. India has a golden opportunity to shift from a heavily energy importing nation to an energy neutral/exporting nation."
Before Nashik, IEEMA organised a press conference at Jaipur in Rajasthan - which has emerged as the country’s solar hub after developing 10 GW (Gigawatt) capacity solar power. IEEMA also hosted an interactive session with senior officials of Rajasthan’s power sector along with a road show. Hamza Ariswala, President, IEEMA, said, "The state is attracting new investments in the field of renewable energy. Indian industry has an important role to play as India accelerates towards Net Zero (with green and renewable energy as the primary source of energy) and enhances the quality of life of its citizens."
According to Jitendra Agarwal, Chairman, ELECRAMA 2023, the expo aims to secure business inquiries worth $6 billion from exhibitors and visitors from over 70 countries including pavilions form Canada, France, Germany, Romania, Taiwan and UK. "For the industry’s growth and success, certain areas present unlimited business opportunities in the future including start-ups and new business where massive capital investment are being made i.e. railways, metro, airport, defense, smart cities, buildings, and the EV ecosystem, small, medium and micro-business should be able to participate in the global supply chain as well,” said Agarwal.
Growth enabler
Power sector is going through a huge revolution right now with the government taking iniatiatives to generate new opportunities for industry players. Against this background, ELECRAMA will provide an avenue to connect the world with the Indian industry for technology, new trends and innovation for future energy transition. The event will offer thought leadership platforms for everything electric – from technical conclaves, seminars, conferences to industry summits.
As part of Mission 2030, the industry aims to reach $65 billion output with export of $25 billion. With a focus on energy storage, energy efficiency, EVs, Industry 4.0, digitization, etc, companies are looking at investing in India to make the country self-reliant and global manufacturing hub. ELECRAMA will play an enabler role to achieve this goal.
