Eicher Trucks & Buses, a division of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), unveiled the Eicher Non-Stop Series, a revamped iteration of its heavy-duty trucks (HDTs). Specifically designed for companies engaged in infrastructure and construction projects, these long-haulage trucks are tailored for transporting various loads such as cement, tanker, steel, bulker, and market goods.
The Non-Stop Series introduces four new HD trucks: the Eicher Pro 6019 XPT Tipper, Eicher Pro 6048XP haulage truck, Eicher Pro 6055XP, and the Eicher Pro 6055XP 4?2 tractor-trucks. The phased nationwide availability of these trucks is anticipated. While the investment details remain undisclosed, Eicher stated an annual expenditure of Rs 500-600 crore on product development, capacity enhancement, and other aspects.
Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO of VECV, shared insights into the domestic heavy commercial vehicle industry, citing that tractors constitute 20%, tippers around 25%, and multi-axle vehicles another 20% of the market.
Addressing the potential of the newly launched commercial vehicles, Aggarwal highlighted a shift towards tractors in the heavy-duty segment due to improving infrastructure, resulting in a lower overall total cost of operations. He emphasised the continuous growth of this segment compared to other segments in the HD industry. Additionally, the growth of tippers is attributed to increased infrastructure investments.
Aggarwal expressed openness to introducing LNG versions of HDTs, including the newly launched models.
Gagandeep Singh Gandhok, Senior VP ? HD Truck Business at VECV, noted that while the products existed previously, they now feature increased horsepower. With a consolidation trend observed in higher payload trucks, the enhanced engine power output improves the cost per tonne per kilometre, making higher payload trucks more cost-effective.
Gandhok emphasised that the vehicles are designed for exceptional performance and are supported by holistic service solutions leveraging AI and Machine Learning. Eicher assured customers of non-stop growth in business and profitability.
Eicher highlighted its extensive network, comprising over 850 touchpoints nationwide, including 425 authorised service centers and 8,000 retail centers for parts. All Eicher HD vehicles boast 100% connectivity, backed by an uptime center, according to the company's claims.
