Dixon Technologies with Nokia to manufacture telecom products

Dixon Technologies has signed an agreement with Nokia to develop and manufacture telecom equipment such as fixed wireless access points and routers for the Finnish company, a deal which the Indian contract manufacturer said is worth Rs 15 billion a year to start with.

The electronics manufacturing (EMS) company’s wholly owned subsidiary Dixon Electro Appliances will be manufacturing the equipment at its facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, Dixon said in a regulatory filing.

"The product development is at its final stages, and commercial production will start from June or July," Atul B. Lall , Dixon Technologies Vice Chairman & Managing Director, told the source.

"Once production ramps up, we will have a run rate of around 100,000-150,000 units a month for Fixed Wireless Devices, and another 100,000-150,000 units a month for indoor Wi-Fi 5 routers," Lall said.

"It's a Rs 1.5 billion business annually to start with and we will see how it steps up," he added.

Dixon Technologies' joint venture with Bharti Enterprises is part of the government's Rs 41.15 billion production-linked incentive scheme for telecom and networking products. Lall said production will commence under the scheme in June.
