The Institution Of Engineers (India), Delhi State Centre, is organising Safety Convention 2012, with 'Safety in Sustainable Development' as its theme. The even is scheduled for July 5-7, 2012, at Hotel Le Meridian, New Delhi.

The objective of Safety Convention 2012 is to highlight the potential contribution of safe pathways for sustainable development leading to green economy with higher job availability, safe drinking water, food security and disaster mitigation through appropriate engineering solutions. The theme is Safety in Sustainable Development, with the following sub-themes: safety measures for sustainable development; risk management in emergency response; safety in infrastructure creation; safety in waste management including recycling; product safety and regulatory compliance; standards and certification for safety; capacity building for safe development practices; road safety; rail safety; energy safety; fire safety; industrial safety; aviation safety; industrial safety; food safety; cyber security; safe built habitat; emergency communication; safety in drinking water supply; and case studies.

The convention is ideal for professional organisation, operations and maintenance personnel, occupational health physicians and hygiebne experts, manufacturers and suppliers of safety equipment, safety engineers, labour inspectors, NGOs and other professionals. A highlight of the concention is the Safety Innovation Awards 2012 ceremony whereby outstanding government organisations, PSUs, private sector businesses/industries and NGOs will be conferred the safety innovation awards for the initiatives taken for introducing concepts of awareness annd culure in operations in the field of occupational safety, heath and environment.

The organisers have issued a call for papers, the last date for subsmission being June 1, 2012. Several sponsorship options are also available.
