Danfoss inaugurates Centre of Excellence for green refrigerants in Chennai

Dan Jørgensen, Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, Denmark, inaugurated the facility. It will provide sustainable cooling for all and help in the green transformation of India’s Cold Chain sector.
Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Danfoss Industries Pvt. Ltd launched a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for green refrigerants at its state-of-the-art facility in Chennai to encourage the sustainable development and use of low-GWP refrigerants. It will provide sustainable cooling for all and help in the green transformation of India’s Cold Chain sector.
Dan Jørgensen, Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, Denmark, inaugurated the facility along with H. E. Freddy Svane, Ambassador of Denmark to India and Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India.
Danish minister Dan Jørgensen said, “Danfoss is a frontrunner in supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals and fighting against global warming and climate change. The launch of this new Green Refrigerant Centre will help accelerate India’s transition towards green refrigeration.â€Â
The Minister visited India as part of the Green Strategic Partnership between Denmark and India to exchange learnings, technology and best practices for a sustainable tomorrow. Danfoss is a Danish company that supports this initiative. It is also working with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) for introducing carbon dioxide (CO2) as a natural refrigerant for Indian conditions.
Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India, said that the new CoE would support India’s transition away from hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) & Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), as per the Montreal Protocol and Kigali Amendment.
