Cytiva, a leading global life sciences company, has announced the inauguration of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and Experience Centre in Pune, India. This significant development marks a major milestone in Cytiva's expansion efforts in the region.

The new manufacturing facility in Pune is poised to play a pivotal role in Cytiva's operations in the Asia-Pacific region. It will serve as a hub for producing essential bioprocessing equipment, encompassing a range of cutting-edge systems such as tangential flow, virus filtration, and inactivation systems. With this expansion, Cytiva's manufacturing capacity in India will be doubled, strengthening its position in the rapidly growing life sciences market.

In addition to manufacturing, the newly established Experience Centre is set to become a beacon of knowledge and innovation. This immersive facility will offer comprehensive training programs covering upstream and downstream technologies, digital solutions, and automation software. These critical training initiatives are designed to accelerate the development of novel therapeutics, addressing the evolving needs of the industry.

Rajan Sankaran, the Commercial General Manager, India, Cytiva, emphasised the strategic importance of this expansion, stating, "Strengthening our manufacturing presence in India is vital to Cytiva?s operations in Asia-Pacific and long-term growth strategy. We also have a pivotal role in developing and nurturing the talent required to meet the demand for biologic medicines."

The new facility encompasses specialised centres, including the Fast Trak Centre and a research and development centre spanning diverse sectors such as bioprocess, discovery, medical, and genomic medicine. These centres underscore Cytiva's commitment to advancing research and innovation across various life sciences disciplines.

Cytiva's foresight into the future of biopharma in India is reflected in its 2023 Global Biopharma Resilience Index. The report reveals that 65% of biopharma executives in India anticipate a significant increase in biologics manufacturing over the next three years, surpassing the global average by 15%. Additionally, 46% of Indian biopharma executives are prioritising onshoring drug manufacturing or enhancing domestic sourcing in the next 12 months to bolster supply chain resilience.
