Competition Commission of India(CCI) approves Videocon D2H and Dish TV merger

MUMBAI, May 2017 – Videocon d2h has received the approval of Competition commission of India (CCI) for the proposed merger of Videocon d2h and Dish TV. The commission in its meeting dated 5th May has approved the merger under sub section of section 31 of the act.

The new entity will be called Dish TV Videocon Limited as announced in November 2016. The merger will create a huge subscriber base of 27 Million households. The merged entity will have a 16 per cent share of the 145-million subscriber pay-TV (Cable and Satellite TV Households) market.

Mr. Saurabh Dhoot, Executive Chairman, Videocon d2h said, "We are happy to receive the approval from CCI within our estimated timelines. We look forward to the day when the merger will get fully completed after we get approvals from all concerned authorities."

Mr. Anil Khera Chief Executive Officer, Videocon d2h said, "With the approval of the CCI coming through, we are firmly on the path of becoming the world's largest single country DTH operator with 27.6 million subscribers. We look forward to the exciting times ahead."

Videocon d2h has prided itself in presenting its subscribers with a robust line-up of more than 650 channels and services, 62 HD Channels and a host of regional channels. It offers a wide range of active services like smart services including smart english, smart games. The other active services include d2h hollywood HD, d2h music, d2h spice, d2h cinema in both Standard Definition and HD, etc.
