CNH Industrial took the possession of a sustainable farming solution provider company, Augmenta. CNH Industrial will acquire Augmenta Holding SAS at an enterprise value of $110 million and will have a 10.5 per cent minority stake in the company.

World-class equipment manufacturer, CNH Industrial has purchased Augmenta to accelerate the growth of their innovative Sense & Act technology. Augmenta provided sustainable and efficient farming solutions and was a previous CNH Industrial Ventures investment and strategic partner.

“Our work with Augmenta has brought increasing benefits to our customers’ operations. What began as a minority investment in their potential, now culminates in us adding this proven tech excellence directly to our sprayer offering,” said Derek Neilson, President Agriculture, CNH Industrial. “This is an important development for our agriculture business that will further support our dealers by differentiating our equipment through value-added technology.”

“Augmenta’s technology will expedite the development of our broader ‘Sense & Act’ capabilities to create value for our customers,” said Parag Garg, Chief Digital Product Officer, CNH Industrial. Sense & Act tasks are based on sensor-detected data during the spraying process, wherein protection solutions are applied to crops both before and after harvest. This technology gives machines selective spraying capabilities which precisely direct and regulate spray volume.

The work done in this area by Augmenta includes the creation of a multispectral camera and software that keeps track of a machine's operating environment and interacts with it directly. This improves sustainability by reducing the need for chemical and fertiliser use, increases yield for customers, and—most importantly—reduces application time, effort, and input costs. The biggest value pool for this technology is savings in fertiliser, fungicides, herbicides, and plant growth regulators.

Augmenta will function as a part of CNH Industrial’s precision technology portfolio under the Raven brand. It will keep its current staff members and offices in the USA and Greece. Subject to customary adjustments, Augmenta Holding SAS will be acquired by CNH Industrial for an enterprise value of $110 million. Prior to the transaction being announced, CNH Industrial had a 10.5 per cent minority stake in the company that would be funded by cash on hand. Subject to the satisfactory completion of customary closing conditions and receipt of regulatory approvals, closing is anticipated to take place in the first quarter of 2023.
