A senior official revealed that a 15-member delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has actively explored opportunities to enhance ties with Taiwan across various industrial sectors. The delegation, led by G R Gopi Kumar, Convenor of CII Tamil Nadu Textile Panel, delved into areas of mutual interest such as man-made fabrics, sustainable and technical textiles. They also extended invitations to Taiwanese companies to invest in the state.

Kumar emphasised the common economic and commercial interests shared by India and Taiwan, particularly in the field of technical textiles. He expressed confidence that the successful delegation would enable businesses to capitalise on the strengths of both sides, fostering collaboration and enhancing trade ties.

The primary focus of the delegation was to uncover and nurture trade prospects between Taiwan and Tamil Nadu, specifically in functional fabrics and innovative, sustainable initiatives. Kumar emphasised the potential of Tamil Nadu, and India as a whole, to become a pivotal destination for Taiwanese companies looking to bolster their global presence in textile products.

During their visit to Taiwan, the delegation attended the 27th Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show, a key hub for innovative textiles in Asia. Additionally, the Indian industry representatives engaged in discussions with prominent organisations, including the Director General of the Chinese National Association of Industry and Commerce, India Taipei Association, and Taiwan Textile Research Association, among others.
