On November 6, the tyre manufacturing company CEAT announced that the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has instructed the closure of its Bhandup plant in Mumbai due to alleged violations of pollution control norms, as stated in a regulatory filing. CEAT received an email communication from the board regarding the violations and is currently reviewing the directive to take appropriate action. The company reassured stakeholders that all its plants adhere strictly to applicable laws, and the internal standards followed are more stringent than the prescribed norms. As a result of this development, CEAT Ltd's shares were trading 1.32% lower at Rs 2,100.20 apiece on the NSE today, despite having gained nearly 30% since the beginning of the year.
