BHEL wins Rs 14.05 mn order from NPCIL to supply nuclear steam generators

BHEL will supply 12 nuclear steam generators that will be manufactured at the Tiruchirapalli plant. This is the second supply order secured by BHEL for NPCIL’s Fleet Mode implementation programme.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has won an order worth Rs 14.05 million from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) to supply 12 nuclear steam generators. The generators will be manufactured at the Tiruchirapalli plant of BHEL.
The order comes under NPCIL's Fleet Mode procurement programme. BHEL will supply 12 steam generators for India's highest-rated indigenously-developed 700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs). It will be set up at four different locations in India.
This is the second supply order secured by BHEL for the Fleet Mode implementation programme of 10x700 MWe nuclear projects. The first order for the supply of 32 Reactor Header Assemblies is under execution.
BHEL is the only Indian company involved in all three stages of the indigenous nuclear power programme. It has emerged as the leading partner for NPCIL for over four decades now. Almost 75% of PHWR-based nuclear power plants in India are equipped with BHEL-supplied Turbine and Generator sets.
