BHEL wins Rs 100 billion contract for a thermal power station in Jharkhand

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) has been awarded a Rs 100 billion contract from Damodar Valley Corp. to set up the second phase of the Koderma 2x800 MW thermal power station in Jharkhand's Koderma district. This contract encompasses engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) tasks.

BHEL will supply key equipment, including boilers, turbines, generators, and associated auxiliaries. The project also includes electricals, controls, implementation, and the balance of plant packages. BHEL will handle erection, commissioning, and civil works. The project is scheduled for completion within 52 months.

In June, BHEL secured a similar contract worth Rs 133 billion for the first phase of the plant's setup. This initiative aims to enhance Damodar Valley Corp's thermal generation capacity to 8,140 MW by 2030, significantly benefiting regional economic and local welfare, according to the source.
