BFW brings Multi-process Machining Technology under Make in India program

Bangalore, January 2017 – Bharat Fritz Werner (BFW), one of India’s largest machine tool builders and a one-stop-shop for metal-cutting solutions, is on the path of acquiring the technology for manufacturing Multi-process Machining Centres in India. The initiative has been facilitated by the government’s flagship program – Make in India – for making India the manufacturing hub of the world.

A typical multi-process machining centre is capable of both rotating-work piece operations (turning) and rotating tool operations such as milling, cross-drilling, tapping, threading, knurling, boring and grooving. The technology being acquired by BFW under license from GMTK, Spain will enable it to develop machines for heavy-duty components typically being used in energy, defense, process plants, ship building and aerospace segments. All these industries are developing at a rapid pace; and thus the demand for such heavy-duty components made from regular and emerging materials, is only going to grow.

Currently India lacks the technology for developing and manufacturing such state-of-the-art and high-end turn-mill centres. BFW has the vision to fill up this technology gap and has identified the right partner in GMTK to help it in its journey of technology acquisition.

Bharat Fritz Werner Limited, Bengaluru, (BFW) is a leading machine tool company, wholly owned by the Kothari Group, with operations since 1961, with a country-wide presence serving customers predominantly in the medium and light engineering industrial sectors. Currently BFW operates through its 3 manufacturing plants in Bangalore, Chennai and Hosur, 10 regional offices and 21 channel partners spread all across the country. BFW is also present internationally through our overseas dealer network in 18 locations.
