CMI to foray into specialised lead sheathed cable market

Low voltage lead sheathed cables are used mainly in the utilities and petrochemical industries
New Delhi, July 17, 2018
With an aim to increase its product portfolio, CMI limited, one of the leading players in the cable industry, is foraying into the niche market of lead sheathed power, control instrumentation and signal fire survival communication based specialised cables for oil, petroleum and gas based core industry, as well as for marine-based applications.
Low voltage lead sheathed cables are used mainly in the utilities and petrochemical industries owing to the lead sheathing’s resistance to sulfide, water, oil and any corrosive chemicals found in the ground water. Low voltage lead sheathed cables have an extended lifespan, making them a reliable option for large-scale, infrastructure-related uses.
With this induction, CMI also enters into the specialised area of HV and EHV lead sheathed cables and cabling system for all transmission, distribution, industrial/major infra projects and smart city project areas in the domestic as well as international markets. At present there are very few players worldwide to make such type of cables. The trail run for the same has already started in CMI’s Baddi plant located in Himachal Pradesh.
