Tragic incident prompts safety concerns in entrance automation

In a heartbreaking incident, a senior eye specialist tragically lost her life when a compound gate fell on her. Renowned for her contributions to the field, the specialist was fatally struck by the falling gate she was passing through.

This incident highlights a growing concern surrounding the safety of entrance automation systems globally. Reports of accidents involving faulty gates have been increasingly common, highlighting the urgent need for more reliable and secure entrance solutions.

Samir Gandhi, Director, Gandhi Automations Pvt Ltd, a leading company specialising in entrance automation and loading bay equipment, expressed deep concern over the incident. He emphasised the critical role of robust safety measures in preventing such accidents."In our rapidly evolving world, where technology continually shapes and reshapes our daily lives, entrance automation stands out as one of the remarkable advancements that seamlessly blend convenience with safety." He stressed the importance of ensuring gates, doors, and barriers operate flawlessly to guarantee not only smooth traffic flow but also enhanced security.

Drawing from extensive industry experience, Gandhi highlighted that gate-related injuries are not uncommon globally. The root cause of malfunctioning gates is often poor design standards and engineering adopted by fabricators who do not prioritise safety parameters. These incidents frequently result from the incompetence of service providers and the poor quality of gate construction.

"Several tragic cases serve as poignant reminders of the consequences of neglecting gate maintenance", Gandhi added. Instances cited include a child crushed by a gate due to a faulty closure and a delivery driver fatally injured by a dislodged gate. These incidents underline the necessity for professional installation, regular maintenance, and adherence to stringent safety standards.

Gandhi emphasised the importance of proper installation, regular maintenance, and adherence to safety standards to prevent such tragic incidents. He strongly advises all property owners and managers to ensure that their gates are serviced by qualified professionals and regularly inspected to meet all safety requirements.

To enhance safety and reliability, it is crucial to check gate safety features before purchasing from any reputable brand to avoid accidents.
? Digital limit switch with encoder: Provides precise control of gate operations and prevents over-travel.
? Wheel stoppers: Prevents the gate from over-traveling or derailing in case of a system failure.
? Nylon roller clamps with safety post: Ensures the gate leaf is securely held and guided for smooth and safe movement.
? Safety strike fixed at entrance ends: Strengthens the entrance ends to prevent accidental gate displacement.

Gandhi urged businesses and individuals to prioritise safety and reliability when selecting entrance automation solutions. He cautioned against opting for substandard alternatives, emphasising that investments in quality systems outweigh potential long-term costs associated with accidents and liabilities.

As the industry continues to evolve, Gandhi Automations remains adamant in its mission to innovate and improve entrance automation technologies, ensuring they meet the highest safety standards. Their advocacy for enhanced safety measures aims to mitigate risks and promote a safer environment for all users.
