Indian machine tools industry has grown leaps and bounds

The Mumbai-based C And C Laser Engineering Pvt Ltd provides a wide array of scientific and industrial laser products for all kinds of industrial laser solutions. In this interview, Hrishikesh Sawant, Director, C And C Laser Engineering Pvt Ltd, explains the advantages of laser marking for industries.

How is your company serving the manufacturing & machine tools sectors?

We provide laser marking, engraving, micro-machining systems along with the lasers for various applications primarily like identification. Production lines need to have the parts being manufactured to be identified with some permanent marking which can be only achieved aesthetically by lasers.

What is driving the demand for your products/solutions & services?

The technology of laser marking is demanding because the laser processing method is a non-contact procedure, but it is permanent. Lasers can mark on all metals, non-metals, whether the part is bare, painted, powder-coated, anodized or hardened. Laser marking machines can mark state-of-the-art 2D barcodes for identification where in the user can add the entire history of the production of the part into a code that can be as small as possible. The identification marking being non-contact, permanent & personalised is the USP of our systems.

What is your opinion about the Indian machine tools industry? What kind of opportunities are you looking to tap in India?

The Indian machine tools industry has grown leaps and bounds. There are many industries in India, who have devised state-of-the-art tools, which are not even thought of in most of the other progressed countries. Mangalyaan has proved this statement in all sense.

How do you intend to tap the automotive & auto component industries, especially when electric vehicles (EVs) are gaining traction?

The automotive and auto component industries need the laser processing like any other industry. All the parts inside any vehicle – may it a 2-wheeler or a multi axle vehicle – need some identification and if the parts can have their complete production history mentioned on the part, then it becomes easier to resolve the issues whenever and wherever an issue arises. Fossil fuels are now going scarce and if we do not take proper measures, we might see that the next generation might not be able to utilize any of the fossil fuels. Hence, it is more so important to have electrical vehicles to be produced. The industry should also start concentrating their energies towards development of vehicles based on solar energies.

Which other end-user industries are you looking to tap for future business growth?

C And C Laser Engineering Pvt Ltd has always been on the lookout to tap new opportunities in industries like railways, defence, research & development, medical industry and many more.

Could please elaborate on some of the emerging trends in the machine tool & accessories industry?

Most of the companies should opt for automated production lines as this minimises the mistakes and errors caused by manual usage.

How is your company tapping the digitalization/automation trend?

Our machines are laser based and state-of-the-art and, hence, completely digitized. Our laser marking machines, and laser processing machines can be easily automated, can be synchronised with the existing automated production lines.

What are your growth plans for the company in the coming years?

In addition to the servicing of all lasers locally, C And C Laser Engineering Pvt Ltd would be focusing on building lasers in India; thus, reducing the overhead of our customers.
