Honeywell has introduced its Hybrid Heating Solution, a
flexible and automated approach that enables industrial manufacturers to
potentially lower operating costs and carbon emissions by integrating natural
gas and electric energy sources for process heating.
By automating heating controls, manufacturers can switch
energy sources in real time, optimising energy costs while reducing dependence
on a single fuel. The solution is designed for seamless integration with
existing infrastructure and can deliver up to 30 per cent electric heating
capacity at any given time. It also offers predictive diagnostics and remote
monitoring, improving operational visibility and precision across industries
including automotive, building materials, and food and beverage.
“Hybrid solutions offer a practical way for energy-intensive
manufacturers to reduce grid strain while supporting the global energy
transition,†said John Villali, Senior Research Director, IDC Energy Insights.
“As companies seek to cut emissions and reliance on fossil fuels, supply chains
can play a critical role in meeting decarbonisation goals by leveraging
electrical power, including renewable sources.â€
“Manufacturers today face rising energy costs alongside the
need to reduce fossil fuel use while maintaining productivity,†said Tim Lee,
President, Honeywell Thermal Solutions. “By combining traditional and
electrical energy, including renewables, Honeywell provides a flexible and
realistic pathway to emissions reduction for operations requiring
energy-intensive heat.â€
In facilities with onsite wind, solar or battery energy
storage, manufacturers may be able to use renewable electricity to reduce the
carbon footprint of heating operations, subject to applicable regulations.
Honeywell’s Hybrid Heating Solution is commercially
available and is already in production across multiple manufacturing verticals
following successful pilot projects. More information is available at
