GreenH Electrolysis, a collaborative effort between H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies and GR Promoter Group, has officially inked a deal with Medha Servo Drives, based in Hyderabad, to construct a Hydrogen production and refuelling facility in Jind, Haryana. This station is intended to supply Hydrogen for India's pioneering Hydrogen train as part of the Indian Railways' ambitious "Hydrogen for Heritage" initiative.

Indian Railways is set to introduce thirty-five hydrogen-powered trains, with the inaugural train scheduled to operate between Jind and Sonipat. The launch of this train next year signifies India's commitment to embracing advanced technologies and reshaping the transportation sector on a global scale.

As part of a pilot project, Indian Railways has commissioned Medha to retrofit a Diesel Electric Multiple Unit rake on the Sonipat-Jind route, transitioning it from diesel to a hydrogen-based power system. This marks the initial stride toward realising Indian Railways' objective of achieving net-zero emissions. GreenH has been selected by Medha to oversee the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of the Hydrogen production and refueling station for this pivotal project.

GreenH will supply the requisite equipment from its state-of-the-art PEM electrolyzer manufacturing plant located in Jhajjar District, Haryana. The Hydrogen production and refuelling station are anticipated to implement a comprehensive system for both hydrogen production and daily refuelling of the trains, thereby contributing to the success of the initiative.

In the initial phase, a 1 MW electrolyzer provided by GreenH will operate continuously, aiming for a daily hydrogen production capacity of 420 kg. The refuelling infrastructure is poised to integrate 3,000 kg hydrogen storage, hydrogen compressors, and two hydrogen dispensers with pre-cooler integration. This setup ensures efficient and rapid refuelling of the trains along their designated daily routes.

The Hydrogen production and refuelling station is envisaged as a turn-key solution, encompassing various technical disciplines such as process, electrical, instrumentation and control, safety, etc. Additionally, GreenH will offer comprehensive support to the end user through a Long-term Service Agreement, covering operation and maintenance aspects of the facility.
